Interruption

By Toni Havens

I was dealt a free hand in this game of life.

Any hand I played would cause little strife.

Alone I chose to be.

On a path of self-discovery.

I thought I had it all figured out, my life.

It was all mapped out.

But this I did not see, you interrupted me.

Barely experiencing what life’s about.

You enchanted me and placed me on this route.

Unaware I’d fall.

I took steps but they were small.

You caught me, held me tight.

Gave me a glimpse of what love should be.

Now I am thinking of you constantly.

Alone I am no more.

And together the world is an open door.
